HVDC systems - benefits
In general the benefits of the design of the Zero-flux™ current transformer measuring range, great stability and low ripple voltage. Result is a high-resolution system, which makes it possible to measure both very large and very small currents with exceptional accuracy.
In more detail benefits of our HVDC systems are:
Accuracy: Stringent design criteria, the use of high-quality magnetic materials, the careful selection of electronic components and the maintenance of strict test procedures determine the accuracy of the Zero-flux™ current transformer (99.98% - class 0.02).
Overload behavior: When the peak value of the primary current exceeds the measuring range, the output voltage of the system remains constant at the set maximum value. The primary current is then no longer represented by the measuring system. When the current returns within the measuring limits, true reproduction is restored automatically.
Bandwidth: The Zero-flux™ current transformer has a bandwidth of 0 Hz to 10 kHz, essential for optimum performance especially with dynamic phenomena.
Electromagnetic compatibility: The Zero-flux™ current transformer complies with EMC standards, meaning it will not be affected by or cause electromagnetic interference.
Thermal stability: No special measures, such as heating or cooling are necessary to maintain a stable operational environment.
Reliability: The Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) of our Zero-flux™ current measuring system is 30 years. This period is calculated by means of a large amount of operational data.
Our Zero-flux™ current measuring systems consist of a measuring head and an electronics module. The measuring head is a toroidal core, which needs to be mounted around the primary current carrier. The electronics module is typically placed inside a control room. The permissible maximum length of the cable connecting the two parts is 350 m. The construction and size of the measuring head depends on the application and voltage insulation level of the primary circuitry. The electronics module is similar for all operations and fits in a 19 inch mounting rack.
