Below some of our colleagues share their experiences at Hitec Power Protection.
Mechanical Engineering
Software Engineering
Hitec is technologic leader in rotary UPS systems. To maintain that, continuous development is of great importance. Our Research & Development department works on product improvement and new product development. Our customer's needs are translated in development projects and concepts for future applications. Mechanics, electronics and software come together, which is what makes R&D at Hitec challenging, in an informal and international working environment.
Our team serves as spindle to solve technological challenges. We formulate specifications of the individual system components and merge these to a combined, operational UPS solution that is ready to be installed. Application engineering at Hitec calls for a broad technical knowledge level, from diesel engines to redundant networks. Future colleagues that like to work with variety in technology, would fit into our team perfectly.
Hitec means high-tech and excellent quality. Everybody at Hitec feels responsible for the quality of his or her work and therefore for the high quality level of the products and services we supply to our customers. Hitec is a dynamic, international and open organization, operating in a highly demanding market, offering great opportunities to its employees. The dedication of our employees to Quality, Environment and Safety assures our leading position as rotary UPS supplier.
I have been working with Hitec since June 1995. I started at panel assembly and I am working in assembly now. Electrical assembly is responsible for the build up, assembly and wiring of Hitec UPS and RT systems. We do this work in a coherent team. Future colleagues should be able to work independently and to take responsibility for the quality of their work. This upholds the excellent quality standard maintained within Hitec.
I have been working with Hitec as sales engineer since 2005. It is an interesting job. Sales engineers are the bridge between the commercial and technology department. It is nice to be working on both disciplines and to travel when a customer needs our technical expertise or to develop a tailor-made solution. It is an international job with many challenges.
I have been working with Hitec as service engineer since 2007. It is an interesting job. As customer support engineer I travel a lot, for periods from one to six weeks. English and German are languages that I often use in practice. On site I work independently on an UPS system, sometimes in a team together with two or three colleagues, each having their own tasks. The job consists of a variety of activities, from small maintenance to turn-key installation of a new UPS system. Our job calls for analytical and logical skills, as well as a broad knowledge of and interest in technology, from diesel engines to cooling of alternators.
The Global Helpdesk team at Hitec provides technical support to customers, informs about maintenance questions and assists with system operation through effective trouble shooting when needed. Together we answer user queries backed up by electrical as well as mechanical know-how that is indispensable. With the help of advanced monitoring software we are able to make contact with a particular system retrieving its status and history of events and so offer targeted support. Our Global Helpdesk team in cooperation with our regional service hubs and several local service organizations worldwide provides service and support 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Special Measuring Systems (SMS) Hitec SMS makes high precision current measuring systems, for customers who need to measure currents of many thousands of Amperes. For more than 20 years I work on development and application of these systems. The contact with our customers is challenging and also finding specific solutions for measuring DC or AC currents with highest accuracy and reliability. I work on systems as for the CERN LHC-project, on HVDC projects that link utility distribution networks and on measuring systems used for AC power metering and analysis.
